[solved] What's the difference between a database table and a dataset in FineReport?

I'm a little bit curious about why should always create a dataset as if using SELECT * the result dataset is just the same as the database table. So what's the relationship between the two?

Hi Nino,

A database is an organized set of data that is stored in your computer, while a dataset is created using one or multiple data tables from a database.
In FineReport, we can't directly use data columns from a database, in order to design your report and drag data columns to the designer, you have to create the dataset for designing use.
